This year at Miami Art Basel Sevan Bıçakçı will reveal The Craftsman’s Journey with presentations within The Betsy Hotel and Design Miami, one focusing on his future and one his past. Art within many forms is Bıçakçı’s vision for the future, which will be displayed within The Betsy Hotel in South Beach. How Sevan Bıçakçı’s work today came to be is revealed in his presentation at Design Miami, where he exposes the influences of his cultural history that have shaped him as an artist. The Turkish craftsman creates an alternate universe in each one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art, made by hand and using techniques that date back hundreds and thousands of years.

December 4th – 8th, Sevan Bicakci is honored to have two portrait pieces of art revealed at The Betsy Hotel. The first is a framed portrait taken by Nigerian-born Portrait Arist Ike’ Ude within his debut exhibit for Art Basel, curated by veteran art collector Lesley Goldwasser. The second is by Bicakci’s own hand, a self-portrait reverse intaglio carved within rock crystal and set in 24K gold.  Both reveals will be in the galley space within The Betsy (1440 Ocean Drive).

On display at Design Miami/ December 3rd – 8th, Sevan Bicakci’s one-of-a-kind creations will be nestled beside photographs, illustrations, rare Ottoman toys, antique textiles and furniture; exposing how Bicakci’s cultural history has shaped him as an artist.
